Welcome to the SAALT and SALALS annual conference website.

This year the conference will be held in Pretoria at the University of Pretoria's Groenkloof Campus.

The conference themes for this year:

  • Intellectual: Indigenous languages in contemporary African society
  • Visual: De Stijl art movement

Conference Fees:

  • Early bird registration (before 30 April): R3,500
  • After 30 April: R4,000
  • Registered students (proof required): R2,800
  • Day registration: R750 (Gala dinner excluded)

Additional tickets:

  • Sunday evening: Welcome reception (R150)
  • Wednesday evening: Gala dinner (R350)

We are excited to announce the call for papers for the first joint annual conference of the South African Association for Language Teaching (SAALT) and the Southern African Linguistics and Applied Linguistics Association (SALALS).
